Welcome to Ecuador-Travelnet Blog

This blog was created by Ecuador-Travel.net (http://www.ecuador-travel.net/) and is intended for all visitors to our country who want to share unique experiences of their travels throughout Ecuador and Galapagos.

Let others know of what you enjoyed and/or did not like here.

To begin with, I will share some thoughts myself concerning some issues.

-it was unusually very rainy in the last 3 months and bad weather still goes on as of today,
occassional landslides make transit sometimes impossible, so plan an extra day if you take buses

-personal safety becomes more and more an issue in Quito, there was an assault on some of our guests just outside our guesthouse, the robbers followed them from the airport and tried to rob them as they got off the taxi, luckily they were deterred by the watchman of the Italian embassy which is just across our place and nothing was stolen and everybody was safe

-Galapagos cruises get more and more expensive each year, boats which sold for $640.- some 6 years ago are up now to $1600.- , increase in fuel costs and a cut in government fuel subsidies even further increases the cruise costs

-civil war in Colombia spills over to Ecuador, do not visit the border regions of both countries

-on a brighter side, the railways get fixed, pretty soon there will be service out of Quito again, first to Latacunga and later on to Riobamba

-Tungurahua volcano is fairly active, on clear days and nights eruptions can be admired

I hope that was useful, Erich Lehenbauer
